New paper co-authored by ReSEC Team members published in Journal of Great Lakes Research
Homa Kheyrollah Pour co-authored a paper titled “Retrieval of ice/water observations from synthetic aperture radar imagery for use in lake ice data assimilation”, which was recently published in the Journal of Great Lakes Research. The study is part of the collaborators with Systems Design Engineering at the University of Waterloo.
The study is focused on the retrieval of the ice/water observations over two of the Laurentian Great Lakes (Lake Erie and Lake Ontario) from satellite imagery (synthetic aperture radar, SAR) through an efficient automated method (convolutional neural networks, CNNs), which can provide critical information to lake ice forecasting systems.
