Northern Large Lakes as Sentinels of Environmental Changes

Objectives: The research program will focus on the following themes:

  • Understanding past, present, and projected Great Bear Lake ice phenology and thickness.
  • Investigating the interplay between ice condition variability and lake water attributes.
  • The characterization and projection of lake ice subsurface- and surface-atmosphere interaction, and exchanging processes in a changing climate using advanced remote sensing techniques.
